The Chicago White Sox could make their bullpen better via a big crosstown trade.

The Chicago White Sox have a very nice bullpen when healthy. Although they lost Garrett Crochet to Tommy John surgery before the season started, they signed very good arms like Joe Kelly and Kendall Graveman to come to help out.

With guys like Liam Hendriks and Aaron Bummer already there, it is a very nice group. However, there have also been arms in the pen that have no business pitching there this year like Bennett Sousa, Kyle Crick, and Tanner Banks. That is why the Sox could use a little more help.

The Chicago Cubs, despite their struggles this year, have a very nice bullpen. One of the best right now is Scott Effross. He is certainly someone that the Cubs are going to consider trading by the time this season is all said and done. The White Sox should be in on him.

Of course, the Cubs and White Sox made two reliever trades in 2021. One worked out okay and one fell flat. We know that the Craig Kimbrel trade didn’t work out for the Sox as he was awful (although Nick Madrigal has been nothing short of a disaster for the Cubs and Codi Heuer is out for the year).

Despite that, the trade for Ryan Tepera actually worked out nicely for the Sox. Neither guy is with the team anymore (they each play for one of the Los Angeles teams now, oddly enough) but the idea was right for the White Sox at the time. Now, they should try again with Effross who has been brilliant so far in 2022.
