Believe it or not, we’re just a couple weeks away from beginning the final month of the 2026 MLB season. It feels like just yesterday that the season began, but the White Sox have just 40 games remaining in 2026 and they continue the push for the postseason. Each year, September 1st begins the expanded roster period, where MLB teams are allowed to carry up to 28 players rather than the traditional 26 for the rest of the year. Some teams add veteran depth during the home stretch, while others use the expanded roster period as an opportunity to give young players and prospects some MLB exposure. If the White Sox go the latter route, here are two players I believe could receive a call-up in just a couple short weeks.
IF/OF Ryan Galanie
Selected as a 23-year-old in the 13th round of the 2023 MLB draft, Ryan Galanie has slugged his way up to the Triple-A level and he’s putting together his best minor league season to date in 2026. In 96 games this season, Galanie is slashing .283/.358/.536 with an .894 OPS. The majority of his season has been spent with Charlotte, where he’s started at first base 71 times. Obviously, the White Sox first base position is occupied with star Munetaka Murakami, so the team’s effort to increase his versatility has led to some starts in the corner outfield in the minor leagues. Due to his age and position, Galanie isn’t ranked in the White Sox top 30 prospects, but he’s never posted a below average OPS in the minor leagues, and could be an intriguing offensive player.
The White Sox wouldn’t necessarily have regular at bats to give Galanie if he were called up, but the team could use another left-handed power bat on their bench, and the depth in Charlotte is fairly thin. It might be time to give the 26-year-old a look.
RHP Jairo Iriarte
One of the biggest bounce-back seasons in the entire minor league system has come from right-hander Jairo Iriarte. A former key piece of the Dylan Cease trade, Iriarte reached the big leagues in 2024 in a bullpen role and seemed to be a big part of the team’s pitching plans in 2025. Unfortunately, last season was nothing short of a disaster. In 48 innings, Iriarte posted a 7.13 ERA with 37 walks and was sent midseason to Arizona to work on his mechanics. After being outrighted off the 40-man roster this offseason, Iriarte has bounced back in a big way.

The 24-year-old posted a 2.28 ERA in 17 games for Double-A Birmingham and was promoted back to Charlotte, where he has posted a 2.45 ERA in 29.1 innings. The walk rate is still elevated, but he’s dropped his opponent batting average by .100 points and has been much more effective at getting hitters out. At his best, Iriarte could be a late inning reliever, and his strong performance this season could inspire the White Sox to give him a second chance.
